Stand
Stand is a handy command to use while grooming your dog or at the Veterinarians.

  • Have your dog sit in front of you.
  • Get down close, but make sure your dog stays in a sit.
  • Run your fingers from under the chest down the belly. When you feel the back-end raise, say Stand. If that fails press gently up on the belly.
  • Treat and praise.

After your dog understands the command, hold the treat for a few seconds, before you reward. Gradually increase the time. As you increase the time, your dog may want to sit. Correct the behavior, by picking up the back end and give the command Stand. Wait a few seconds and reward.

Hint: Try not to let your dog fail. Always end with a success.
